I'm rarely one to make a fuss over a mere music video, but when it's a band as exciting as Grave Pleasures I'll make a big exception. I've been a fanboy of frontman Mat McNerney since he was calling himself Kvohst and fronting black metal bands, but this transition towards slicker post-punk sounds has won me over in an even bigger way. I've listened to the song four or five times back to back this morning and you'll see why if you click "play" for yourself. "Infatuation Overkill" is the lead single from their impending album, Motherblood, which looks like it'll be full of punchy post-punk with metallic edges. I haven't heard a note of the album beyond this one song, but those in the know seem quite pleased. This is a good sign for those who felt that their last album was a far cry from the glory of Beastmilk, the band that preceded Grave Pleasures. I'm not in that camp myself, but this is a high water mark, even for these guys. Check it out below and get excited.
Motherblood comes out September 29th on Century Media. Pre-Orders are available now.
